I am Metis (Plains Cree with a bit of Assibone and Obijway mixed with French and some Scottish European ancestry in my case) and I clearly identify with Buck (very closely with Buck's struggle to fit into the Kiowa world and/or the white world and to find his place) and Chatokay (especially his struggles as a young person with his culture and his people's traditions) as well as viewing Cloud Dancing as a very well-written and interesting character. I am also Autistic and so identify with Ike in some ways as well. Please keep these things in mind while creating my gift.

So on Tuesday, Jan 29th 2019 I was at the local Wal-Mart and what do I happen to see on the back wall of television series/sales items in the electronics department? The complete six season series plus both tv movies of Doctor Quinn Medicine Woman. I wait three days like a reasonable adult person (although I am desperate to get this show in my possesion) to buy it so it is not an impluse buy. And today I buy it and begin to to watch it. The Pilot is good, and a double episode. It's a good set up for the show as a whole. And oh good lord, I just adore every time that Doc Mike and Sully interact. I absolutely love Doc Mike on her own, even. That might be due to the fact that, except for a one letter difference, I share an IRL name with the good lady doctor. It's such a good, wholesome family friendly show. A little dated in 2019, yes, but not so dated in the 90's.

ETA:Upon thinking about it for a few days, DQMW, because of how good and wholesome and family-friendly it is, is literally a show I could probably watch with my friend A, who's mental age does not really match his chronological age and who is also disabled (i have high functioning autism myself, for the record) and says any movie with any sort of violence beyond like a rated PG to PG-13 tv show/movie is a "bad show"(and to keep him happy i will usually agree and put on a different show/movie whenever he comes over and wants to watch something) because of his disability and mental age. But Doctor Quinn, aside from a handful of episodes, is probably something I could safely watch with him.

Question: How does one reconcile the idea of the "Even a traitor many mend, I have known one once who did."!Edmund Pevensive with the Edmund who spent much time routing out the remnants of Jadis's forces and dealing with them as their crimes against Narnia and Aslan merited (aka that they died a traitor's death [though with the Stone Table cracked in half, I highly doubt that was the method of execution used during Edmund and his siblings' reign of Narina]) during the early years of the Pevenises' Reign/the Golden Age of Narnia?

Okay so I love the show, Robin Hood produced by the BBC and Tiger Aspect. One of the things I've noticed as I rewatch the show is that, for a series set in 12th Century England, the female characters-Marian and Djaq (whose real name is Safiyya, for those who found my blog somehow and know nothing about this fandom) mainly but also some 'one-off' characters, such as Matilda, Queen Eleanor, and Meg-are given quite a decent amount of agency in their own rights. They are strong, they are smart, they are independent and they do not need a man to defend them. Marian and Djaq do chose to begin (or perhaps 'resume' is the better word in Marian's case) a romantic relationship with a male character, Marian with Robin Hood himself (of course), and Djaq with Will Scarlett. However these relationships are NOT what defines them nor do these realtionships rob them of their agency. Even after Robin has returned to England and they have begun in secret, by default as he is nearly immediately outlawed and Marian's eventual betrothal [despite the show's use of the word 'engaged', 'betrothal' and 'betrothed' are better and more period correct words] and near wedding [which she herself puts a stop by punching Guy in the face with her right hand, onto which she's placed the ring] to Guy, Marian maintains her agency and her guise as the Nightwatchman which begun as her way of going to war at home( as she says to her father Sir Edward, 'I went to war too. Against poverty.') and evolved into a truly real identity for her. On the other hand Djaq and Will's relationship is much less difficult, although there's the small detail of djaq dressing like a man for most of the series, although by season 2 when everybody knows she is, in fact, a woman, she's added some feminine touches to her outfit and has grown her hair out a bit, it is much more on the sidelines and 'off-camera' so to speak. Much of it grows unseen by the audience until the end of the second season.
