I was a literal young one when it came out, to be fair. For real. I was born in '91, and season one came out in '93 (i was three at the time). My mom got asked so often in those years if I'd been named for Doc Mike that her standard reply was a joking one, and I quote "No, if anything Doc Mike was named for *her*," followed by her explanation that I was born in '91. My love for it, as far as I can remember came from the reruns time period. I enjoyed watching it with my mom in reruns. It was such a good time.
Do it. I was lucky to find the complete series (including the movies) at my local Walmart for as cheap as I did. I'm already at Season 1 Episode 5 aka The Healing. As much as Loren can be a stubborn old fool, I'll say this for him: he's got a good heart and is really a good guy deep down. He just hides it beneath that gruff jaded old man exterior of his.
(this is the biggest difference between Loren and Thompkins, the store-keeper [Thompkins is kinda always a gruff old man with few redeeming qualities on the show The Young Riders that ran from 1989 to 1992, and was a [highly fictionalized account of the Pony Express focused a group of PEx riders including a free black rider [Noah], a half-Kiowa Rider [Buck!] and a mute rider [Ike]. Also both a young Will Bill Hickok and Buffalo Bill Cody.)
